What Would You Do, If You Knew You Could Not Fail?

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it" Isaiah 55:10-11.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? It's an intriguing question, designed to help us explore and envision possibilities without limitations.

There is one venture we can embark on without even the slightest hint of failure. It will absolutely, positively succeed any time and in any place, and that is the work of God’s word.

Partnering with God to propagate His word is a sure-fire recipe for success. The analogy of the pervading success of snow and rain is given to illustrate the effectiveness of God's word. It simply cannot and will not fail.

God’s “word” is always code for the gospel. It says in Mark 2:2 that Jesus “was speaking the word to them.” That “word” was definitely the gospel of God that we see Him declaring in the previous chapter: “Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel’” Mark 1:14-15. If we would partner with God in this “word work” that cannot fail, it is in declaring this “good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ” Acts 8:12.

As a preacher of the word for over forty years, I've witnessed life changes through this word of the kingdom. The change is as noticeable as the growth of plants and trees. Old habits fade, new disciplines take hold, and attitudes change.

Years ago it was clearly and firmly impressed upon me to make my top priority to "preach the word" (2 Timothy 4:2). The temptation has often been great to compromise the message in an effort to attract greater numbers of people to worship gatherings, but that “success” would be ultimate failure according to God’s standard.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? Very simply, partner with God through Christ to speak, publish, and make known the gospel word. This will be successful exactly as our Father has designed. It cannot and will not fail!
